I was majoring in Korean traditional dance. I took an acting class to improve my emotions for college entrance then, I got more interested in acting.

When the viewers’ first saw her as the youngest daughter of a rich family who loves the bad guy Keon Wook Shim (portrayed by Namgil Kim) in Bad Guy, everyone asked, “who is she?”  Somin Jung's face was uncommon and unique among the actresses who had plastic surgeries not as an option but a requirementBut another reason is she was pretty good for the first appearance in a heavy drama between actress Yeonsu Oh and actor Namgil Kim.  "I was majoring in Korean traditional dance.  I took an acting class to improve my emotions for college entrance then, I got more interested in acting."

Those who have decided their career at an early age in sports or arts, tend not to look sideways.  It's because they reject and blame their selves if they change in to something else.  But Somin Jung chose acting not traditional dancing.  "Actually, until my college entrance test, I kept it a secret to my dad.  I was able to tell him after I passed it with highest score."

Somin Jung is majoring in drama performance at Korea National University of Arts.  Because of the school's strict policy on celebrities compare to other school, she started television appearances at her junior year, and delayed her debut.  After a year break, now she's studying and shooting at the same time.   But, even with the restrictions, she was appointed as a leading actress of drama and sitcom after 'Bad Guy' as she says she was 'lucky'.   It's a smooth start considering her friends’ concern that they haven’t debuted.

It's not natural if you think about your script or lines.  You just let go of the words without hesitation but absorb the given scenario/situation.

Somin Jung established a solid foothold as an actress with the recently ended monday-tuesday drama 'Can We Marry' as she frankly expressed pre-brides' mind.  "I was going to go back to school after the sitcom “Stand By”, but my director keep explaining how 'Can We Marry' is important, and how good it will be.  Then I got included in the drama, obviously.  Above all, I was complimented by the director's word 'charming actress' (smile).  But, the teamwork of actors and actresses were great.  The script was fun too."

This drama’s synergy was its realistic stories and the performance of various age groups of actors so it was extended.  She played the role of Hye Yoon who was worried of the reality and ideal pre-marriage. She prepared wedding presents with a loan, and she thought she couldn't do anything even if she's a materialistic person when she wanted a hotel wedding.  She was a common woman who had complex of her worse conditions than her boyfriend's, but could easily say anything to his parents.  With her partner Sungjun, they were really good like they could ad-lib sneakily, and with Misuk Lee who Somin felt intimidated but somehow they got so close that they would text each other.  Somin Jung did very well even if the character age was older and subject 'marriage' was pretty far from her reality.  "It's not natural if you think about the script/lines.  You just let go of the words without hesitation but absorb the given scenario/situation."  So I try to remember the script 100% before filming.  Of course if things are bad, I often just film and sometimes it's better than I expect.  But I think calibration is needed in acting.  I won't take a break. I would challenge whatever the genre is:  horror, comedy, or full-length film."

Soft voice and calm personality -- there wasn't any special conversation between staffs while fixing her hair and make-ups at the studio.  No conversation either with her brother (very handsome like a model) who stopped by.  Maybe she thought today's photo taking is an extension of a work like acting - just like she said she feel comfortable with perfectly memorized lines.  After cleansing make-ups and hair, there was a small conversation.  From private hobby like she's good at advising of love only with some happened-to-hear-theories, and she likes taking pictures, to Japan visiting with Nam Gil Kim for promotion of 'Bad Guy'.  Twenty-four.  When she was born, the movie 'Batman' was released, and a hero was born after 'Superman', and in the domestic market, 'Happiness is not by Grades' got popular. You must not expect too much at one's first attempt, but like her wish, isn't it okay to expect one single movie starred by Somin Jung!
